Growing Scuba Tribe Bali: A Traditional Ceremony in Tulamben

Scuba Tribe Bali has grown around a simple idea: to create a welcoming place in Tulamben where diving, staying and spending time together feel naturally connected. That development has happened step by step, with each new space becoming part of the experience shared by guests and the people who work here.

An important step in the Scuba Tribe story

In May 2024, the new buildings on the property reached a meaningful milestone. Before these spaces became part of everyday life at Scuba Tribe, a traditional ceremony was held to mark the occasion. It was a moment to pause, recognise how the project was evolving and welcome this new chapter in a way rooted in Bali.

The ceremony was not simply about construction. For the Scuba Tribe community, the buildings represented more ways for visitors to stay, meet and enjoy Tulamben from one comfortable base. They were part of a wider vision in which the practical side of a diving holiday and the human side of travelling could come together.

The ceremony of 22 May 2024

On 22 May 2024, a Mangku blessed the new buildings in a traditional ceremony. We are careful not to reduce a Balinese tradition to a simple explanation, but we can share what the day meant to us: it connected an important stage of the property’s development with the place and community around it.

For guests who later arrived at Scuba Tribe, the finished spaces may simply have appeared to be part of the resort. Looking back at this ceremony shows that their story began before the first ordinary day of use. It remains a valuable record of a moment when the team gathered around the next stage of the project.

Diving, staying and sharing one place

Today, Scuba Tribe brings together a dive centre, accommodation, a swimming pool and The Tribe restaurant on the same property. Divers can prepare for a day underwater, return to relax by the pool and enjoy a meal without having to disconnect from the people they have met along the way.

Our diving experiences in Tulamben remain at the heart of Scuba Tribe. The surrounding spaces make it easier to slow down before and after a dive. Visitors can explore the current accommodation options and discover The Tribe restaurant when planning their time with us.

A place shaped by community

Buildings provide rooms and shared spaces, but people create their atmosphere. Scuba Tribe is intended to feel friendly and personal: a place where divers, travellers and the team can talk, exchange stories and enjoy the rhythm of Tulamben. The ceremony is part of that wider story because it reminds us that growth is not only measured by what is built, but also by how a place is welcomed and used.

Watch the historical moment

The original video from the ceremony remains part of this article. It offers a direct glimpse of 22 May 2024 and preserves the atmosphere of the day better than a written description alone could do.

What began as a milestone for new buildings has become part of daily life at Scuba Tribe Bali. We look forward to welcoming visitors who want to dive, stay and experience this corner of Tulamben with the Tribe.
